“110 in the Shade” is worth seeing in Evanston
There is no need to neglect the theatre these days, yet it seems to be so true. However, one show that might just change your mind about theater is one you can catch through Sunday in Evanston at the Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson St. “110 in the Shade” is a show by author N. Richard Nash, also author of “The Rainmaker”, you know, the classic movie starring Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn. Well “110 in the Shade” is a musical from “The Rainmaker” with a score from Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones.
What Evanston is currently viewing, is a local production directed and choreographed for Light Opera Works by Rudy Hogenmiller.
I don’t want to give too much away about the plot, but i is the story of a Dust-Bowl era town in desperate need of rain, and a woman yearning for love and acceptance. Lizzie Curry, is the “old maid” who falls for a charismatic man who makes a promise to bring rain to the town as well as bring love to her life. It also includes a stubborn sheriff, a sweet younger brother, and a wise father.
This show is one worth seeing, so be sure to make time for “110 in the Shade” before Sunday. Tickets are $25-$75
