Café Hookah in Evanston IL – Closed

I can’t believe that Café Hookah, on Clark street in Evanston IL, closed its doors. It looks like us North Shorians have to head to Chicago for our hookah bars. Café Hookah had an impressive selection of tobacco and Middle Eastern food at great prices. Great atmosphere and music, too. And it even had an oxygen bar – the only one in Evanston IL. I’ve been going there since I was of legal age. Hookah bars always had a younger, livelier hip crowd – unlike tobacco shops with lounges, where old businessmen make up the clientele.

A lot of people (mostly college students and others of this age group) are buying their own hookahs and tobacco. Hookahs are not allowed in any dormitory (including the Evanston IL Northwestern Dorms), though most break this rule. As we all know, hookah = coolness. I don’t think there are any hookah retailers in Evanston IL, you will have to go to the ethnic/trendy areas of Chicago for them – Lakeview, Andersonville, Devon, Wicker Park.

Hookah tobacco is plentiful in Evanston IL, even though hookah bars are not. In fact, there are no hookah bars in Evanston IL anymore – now that our Café Hookah is closed. Hookah tobacco can be bought in nearly all tobacco shops and cigar shops – and there are quite a few of them in Evanston IL.
