C.G. Jung Institute
The C.G. Jung Center at 1567 Maple Avenue is a cool place in Evanston, IL. The Jung Institute is a non-profit organization based on the type of psychoanalytic training favored by Carl Jung after he broke off from Sigmund Freud. The Institute has a library, and offers classes to both the public and to professionals. The Jung Institute also offers therapy by licensed professionals based on the Jungian in-depth analytic psychotherapeutic model. The building is located on Maple Street, south of Bennison’s Bakery and between Davis Street and Grove Street.
The organization used to have a bookstore on Maple Street in Evanston as well but I saw on the internet that they are phasing it out. They sometimes have book sales on the lawn where one can get obscure psychoanalytic books for reasonable prices. There is another Jung Institute Bookstore at 203 North Wabash, Suite 1618 in Chicago that is still functional, I believe.
There are several membership types at the Jung Institute including full membership, household membership, sustaining membership, supporting membership, and sponsoring membership, etc. I think the library is open to the public. I have been in the Maple Street location before when they still had the bookstore in the building, and it was okay for the public to be in the library at that time.
