Dream About Tea on Davis Street in Evanston
My roommate goes to North Park University sometimes; her brother went there; and her mom teaches there. So, it is not surprising that I noticed when surfing the internet that the owners of Dream About Tea at 1011 Davis Street in Evanston, IL are also Northpark graduates. They both obtained their MBA’s from North Park in 2002. I have seen the shop from the outside
but have not gone in yet. Now I am definitely interested.
On the North Park web site, there is an article about the couple and their recounting of the establishment of their tea house. Being in the U.S. about five years, both Daquan Yao and Hong Wu are from China, and had a hard time understanding everything that was necessary to get the business going. They
said that their business education at North Park helped them to establish the tea shop.
The couple indicated that they chose Evanston because of its large student population, its friendliness, and because it is where they attend church. They think that drinking tea creates an atmosphere of peace as a sort of cocoon in a scary big city environment. In addition to selling tea to the individual in a “tea-love” environment, the store sells packaged tea and tea products.
