Getting My Daily Five at Froots
I had been noticing Froots at 900 Chicago Ave. in Evanston every time I went back to my old neighborhood. Finally, Thursday after going to Evanston Great Bank across the street from it, I checked it out for myself. I had a Go-Go Veggie wrap sandwich for $5.99 plus tax. I was trying to get to my volunteer job as a tutor for English as a second language (ESL) students; so, I got the wrap to-go and took it to the Main Street el with me. I wolfed it down on the el platform, and it was delicious. The fact that I had lived off of Ramen noodle soup for the last couple of days probably increased the intensity of the pleasure of eating the lettuce, cucumber, tofu, tomato wrap. But my, it was good.
I saw on the Froots website that Roy Toribio, who owns the Evanston, IL franchise thought it was a great product with a unique combination of offering smoothies and wrap sandwiches. I also checked out the City of Evanston health inspection site, and noticed that the site received a 100% rating on the first routine inspection and a 90% on the second routine inspection. The second inspection noticed problems with proper temperature and the floor not being freshly mopped. The floor was freshly mopped when I went in there, and the item was cooked as I waited. Hopefully, they will be back up to 100% on the 3rd routine inspection.
