The Burger King Near Northwestern in Evanston
The Burger King at 1740 Orrington Ave. in Evanston, IL, although it was closed for awhile, is back open now and offers fine 24 hour dining for both Northwestern students and the general Evanston population. Once, my elderly friend Bernard compared eating with me in the Burger King sun room with an artist and his lady friend (the one in the straw hat, I presume) frequenting a French café. I thought that was a little extreme but I do have some fond memories of hanging out at the Burger Kind with Bernard as well as just hanging out in general there or hanging out in general with Bernard. Bernard would also meet with his buddies from the Northshore Hotel (an Evanston retirement hotel) there for coffee and apple pie in the afternoons sometimes.
The Burger King is usually open for business when nothing else is. I have eaten there on Thanksgivings, Christmases and other holidays. Like restaurants near most college campuses there is a certain amount of familiarity with the other customers that is not found so readily in non-collegiate Burger Kings. Sometimes, I listen to conversations at nearby tables, and witness people witnessing to each other. Sometimes, I listen to workmen tease each other or Northwestern students complain about finals. The Burger King near Northwestern in Evanston is a good place.
