Two trips to For Eyes in Evanston

After musing on several possibilities, I found a pair of glasses at For Eyes, located at 635 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, IL.  The frames were $59.95 and the lens were $40.00 for bifocals with lines.  So, I got my glasses for just under $100.00 since For Eyes doesn’t charge tax on glasses.  My frames are small, and the wire rim goes completely around the glasses.
I saw on a Northwestern University website that many Northwestern students also use For Eyes because “They offer full optical care, run frequent sales and coupons, and accept most insurance plans.”  Call 847-864-8176 for more information.
My trip into the city was kind of fun.  I plopped my bike onto the Pace 208 bus, and rode into Evanston both to purchase the glasses on Saturday, and to pick them up the following Thursday.  (For Eyes stays open late on Thursday nights.)  Both times, I took my bike off the bus, and then went into my usual dilemma of whether to go down Davis Street the wrong way for half a block, go the right way and a block out of my way or go in an alley.  The first time, I went down Davis the wrong way for half a block.  The second time I went into the alley at the end of Benson Street, and found out it was actually a cul de sac.  So, I walked my bicycle the half block to Sherman Avenue.
On Thursday, I stopped by the Jewel’s on Chicago Avenue to get a snack that I ended up sharing with a homeless man while I was waiting for the Pace 250 bus to go back home.  I was afraid he didn’t really want it because he started smiling when I gave it to him.  (It was Salsa dip with beans, black olives and cheese, and I would have kept it for myself if he weren’t going to eat it.)  But I noticed later when I was on the bus waiting for it to leave that he had it in a bag with him.  So, I was glad.
